Silver Strand Shoreline Closure Lifted
The affected area, which includes the beach-line north of Imperial Beach through Avenida Lunar in Coronado, was initially closed last week.
CORONADO, CA — The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health late Monday afternoon lifted the water contact closure for the Silver Strand shoreline.
Recent water quality testing conducted by DEH officials confirmed that water quality meets state health standards along the shoreline. The affected area, which includes the beach-line north of Imperial Beach through Avenida Lunar in Coronado, was initially closed last week because sewage-contaminated runoff in the Tijuana River had been entering the United States due to recent rainfall.
County officials said the ocean shoreline from the International Border to the north end of Imperial Beach will remain closed until sampling and conditions confirm these areas are safe for water contact.
