Smartest Athletes at Coronado High? Girls Soccer Can Boast GPA Title

Which sport at Coronado High School has the brainiest athletes?  In the winter season at least, the title goes to girls soccer.

Led by the 4.29 grade-point average of senior Mary Grace Braun, the Islanders had 15 girls soccer players on the U-T San Diego All-Academic Team.

As the Sunday listing noted:

The All-Academic Team honors juniors and seniors who participated in a California Interscholastic Federation-approved varsity sport and maintained a cumulative, weighted grade-point average of 3.0 or better.

The U-T and county Office of Education invited all CIF San Diego section schools to take part. Athletes with cumulative, weighted grade-point averages of 3.0 or better were listed—and will get certificates.

Some 3,613 student-athletes were honored in Sunday’s sports section, including 39 from Coronado High School.
