Culver City Man Identified as Victim of Deadly Crash

The fiery accident shut down all lanes of the 10 freeway Monday morning.

A Culver City man was killed this morning in a fiery multiple vehicle crash on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, authorities said. Assistant Coroner Chief Ed Winter identified him as Gregory Powell Huie, 64.

Another motorist, a 60-year-old man whose name was withheld, was hospitalized.

The collision was reported at 3:44 a.m. on the eastbound Santa Monica Freeway at La Brea Avenue, California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada said.

One vehicle erupted into flames after the crash, Posada said. 

A SigAlert was issued closing the eastbound Santa Monica Freeway at La Brea Avenue and traffic was diverted onto the connector road, Posada said.

One eastbound lane was reopened about 6 a.m., and the remaining lanes were reopened about 7:35 a.m., the CHP reported.
