CULVER CITY, CA — Culver City's Sony Pictures Animation campus sold for $160 million, The Los Angeles Times reports.

The studio at 9050 Washington Boulevard was acquired by Hackman Capital Partners and Square Mile Capital Management, the same financial firm that announced it was taking control of the Raleigh Studios complex in Hollywood last week.

The campus is located directly across the street from The Culver Studios and The Culver Steps, which are also owned by the partnership.

Silent movie pioneer Thomas Ince created the Culver Studios in 1918. It's where legendary Hollywood productions were made, including Citizen Kane, Gone With the Wind, E.T. and The Matrix.

Downtown Culver City is a growing hub for business, technology, and media. Amazon Studios plans to occupy part of the Culver Studios.

"When fully developed, The Culver Studios will total 720,850 square feet—including the Mansion and bungalows, five brand new buildings, totaling 500,000 square feet, and two parking structures with 1,930 spaces," according to Hackman Capital Partners' website. "All in all, the campus will offer 619,850 square feet of creative office and state-of-the-art production support space, 96,263 square feet of stages, and 4,736 square feet of stage support space."

Construction at the area is underway and expected to finish by spring 2021, Hackman Capital Partners says.
