Homebound Seniors Can Get Vaccine With Help From Firefighters

CULVER CITY, CA — Do you know a homebound senior who needs their COVID-19 vaccine?

The Culver City Fire Department is conducting outreach and mobile clinics in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to ask homebound seniors if they are interested in receiving a free vaccine.

CCFD has visited about 200 out of 360 homes in Culver City on record with the L.A. County Department of Public Health so far. The department has planned to offer the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

"Although there is a directive to temporarily pause the administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, CCFD anticipates that the pause could be lifted as soon as this Friday," officials said. "Once the pause is lifted, CCFD will be able to conduct mobile health clinics to administer the vaccine to homebound seniors who wish to receive it."

CCFD members are conducting these visits in their uniforms and provide residents with information about why they are visiting — something important to note. CCFD members will never ask for payment or payment information as the COVID-19 vaccine is always free, officials said.
