Oil Spill Flows Through Culver City Park, Disrupts Traffic

Motorists were advised to use alternate routes.

CULVER CITY, CA – An oil spill disrupted traffic during the afternoon rush Monday as oil flowed through a Culver City park.

The spill occurred in the morning hours in an oil field off Leash Lane above Culver City Park, police said.

The oil flowed through the park and toward Jefferson Boulevard near Duquesne Avenue, where fire department crews worked to keep it from entering storm drains, according to the Culver City Police Department.

Some eastbound lanes of Jefferson Boulevard were closed and motorists were advised to use alternate routes.

The cause of the spill was not immediately available, nor was an estimate of the amount of leaked oil.
