Patch Editor Honored for Making a Difference in Community
Culver City Patch Editor Winter Johnson wins an award from the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism's Black Student Association.

Culver City Patch Editor Winter Johnson was honored for her work by the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism's Annenberg Black Student Association on Thursday evening at the 7th annual "Blacks Making History" awards ceremony, which is also a celebration of Black History Month.
Johnson joined Patch last year and launched Culver City Patch in June. A Los Angeles resident, she majored in American literature at UCLA and has a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University. Before coming to Patch, Johnson worked for Brentwood magazine, Essence magazine, the Santa Monica Daily Press and Momlogic.com.
"Winter is an excellent journalist and is very passionate about her work. She has worked hard to connect with Culver City and her site has been embraced by the community," said Patch West Coast Editorial Director Marcia Parker.

Several other local industry professionals were also honored for their achievements including Howard Bingham, Sandy Banks, Gerrick Kennedy and Darryl Ryan. The ABSA heralded the winners, saying each had "made a difference in their respective fields as well as their community."Â
