Rams Coach Calls Experiences at NFL Meeting "Pretty Cool' and Surreal

LOS ANGELES, CA - First-year Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay Wednesday described his experiences at the NFL's annual meeting in Phoenix as "pretty cool" and surreal.

"You're sitting at the pool after we finished up the meetings. You're sitting there with (Pittsburgh Steelers Coach) Mike Tomlin and (New Orleans Saints Coach) Sean Peyton and how willing those guys are to share," said McVay, hired as the Rams coach in January succeeding the fired Jeff Fisher.

"This is probably the first time that it's starting to kind of set in, what a unique experience it is. You actually slow down a little bit when you come to these, as opposed to how fast things are going back in L.A. and trying to get everything settled and situated. What a unique thing and what a refreshing experience it has been with how willing everyone has been to share."

McVay called himself a fan of many of the coaches in attendance and said he has learned from them, including talking with Atlanta Falcons coach Dan Quinn about how he handled his first team meetings.

"I've always respected the way that he's led," the 31-year-old McVay said, the youngest coach in modern NFL history. "What a mentally tough person he is. You look at the way they handled things after the Super Bowl, talk about the epitome of class.

That toughness that his team embodies and kind of personified through their leader. And that's what's been, really, awesome about it all. You're just continuing to learn and grow. And that's what it's about."
