Reputed Gang Member Pleads Not Guilty To Killing L.A. Rapper

A reputed gang member has plead not guilty in court in connection with the July 2017 Inglewood shooting death of rapper Shawn Mack.

LOS ANGELES -- A reputed gang member pleaded not guilty in court on Thursday in connection with shooting death of an up-and-coming rapper in Inglewood over two years ago.

Andre Jeremy Garcia-Brown, 24, is charged with murder for the July 6, 2017, slaying of Shawn Ivy, a 24-year-old hip-hop artist who performed under the name Sean Mack.

Garcia-Brown is also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and there are gang allegations, as well, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Officers responded at 2:20 a.m. on July 6, 2017, to the 600 block of Hardin Drive in Inglewood to investigate a shots-fired call and found the rapper dead at the scene, Inglewood police said.

About 200 people attended a vigil for Ivy later that evening.

Garcia-Brown has been behind bars since October 2017 on unrelated charges, according to jail records.
