CULVER CITY, CA — The Wende Museum reopened this weekend in Culver City, sharing Cold War artifacts and history with the public again since it closed during the pandemic.
The collection features art, artifacts, personal histories and archival documents that record life and political developments throughout Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union during the Cold War period from 1945 to 1991. The museum has a variety of media and items, including design objects, works on paper, ceramics, sculptures, paintings, textiles, posters, clothing, furniture, photos and films.
It has a collection of more than 21,000 books and periodicals published in East Germany and the Soviet Union, and a portion of the collection is from Erich Honecker’s personal library.
