2 Cupertino School District Employees Get County Honors

A bus driver and a cafeteria assistant in Cupertino's school district will move on to represent the county in a statewide Classified School Employee of the Year program.

Two Cupertino school district employees are among six chosen to represent the county in the 2013 statewide Classified School Employee of the Year Program.

The Cupertino Union School District employees who will represent Santa Clara County are:

Natalie Rogerson, a cafeteria assistant at De Vargas Elementary School, in the Child Nutrition category.

Sylvio Delucchi, a bus driver for the Transportation category.

The program honors classified school employees for the role they play in student “achievement, safety and health,” according to the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE).

Letters of recommendation and nominations are submitted to SCCOE, which then narrows the nominations down to six honorees whose names then go on to the California Department of Education, which selects the winners and then honors them at an event in Sacramento  during Classified School Employee Week in May

Other county honorees include: 

Maintenance and Operations: Juan Flores, a painter at Metropolitan Education District.

Office and Technical: Sylvia Orlowicz, a clerical office assistant at Brett Harte Middle School, San Jose Unified School District. 

Para-Educator and Instructional Assistance: Rocio Knight, a paraeducator at Washington Elementary School, San Jose Unified School District. 

Support Services and Security: Alex Nguyen, a security officer at Metropolitan Education District.
