Plan Bay Area 2040 is a roadmap for the San Francisco Bay Area led by the MTC. The Plan is considered to be a long-term framework for the region. In this update, Stevens Creek Boulevard has been included as a corridor where transit is envisioned in the future. The Plan itself does not allocate funding to a specific project or type of transit, but including it in the plan could make funding available to a project in the future. A transit project would likely be led by VTA, the County's transit agency, and would include a lengthy process with public outreach.

The 2040 Plan Bay Area is open for comment by the public until July 20, 2021 and the MTC board will vote on the plan in the fall.
