Crashes Throw Wrench In Usual 'Friday Light' S. Bay Traffic

A few crashes and an obstacle are hindering smooth traffic on highways 101, 87 and 237, CHP reported.

CUPERTINO, CA — A few South Bay crashes, one with injuries, caused a few morning delays in what is often referred to as "Friday light" traffic since it's when government workers take furlough days and everybody else tries to get an early start to the weekend.

A crash with injuries is blocking a lane on the northbound side of State Route 87 north of the Almaden Expressway in San Jose, the California Highway Patrol reported as of 7:50 a.m.

Motorists may expect delays.

More delays can be expected from another crash has blocked the right shoulder on northbound U.S. Highway 101 south of the Montague Expressway in Santa Clara as of 8:08 a.m.

Farther north, an obstruction on eastbound State Route 237 at the Lawrence Expressway has blocked the off-ramp where drivers on the crosstown thoroughfare are experiencing a little slower-than-usual traffic, the CHP indicated.

As far north as the San Francisco Peninsula, four crashes were reported on Highway 101 in Redwood City within a few miles apart.
