Cupertino’s newest hotel, Aloft, is hosting a glass-raising event Friday evening with a grand opening ceremony for local dignitaries and invited guests.

The event will include “a few words, great bites, sassy spirits, and the hotel inside, plus the w xyz bar,” the announcement read.

Mayor Orrin Mahoney and Vice Mayor Gilbert Wong will perform a ribbon cutting at the hotel that is owned by Shashi Corporation and managed under the Starwood Hotel collection.

The hip hotel, which had a soft opening in January, is located walking distance from Apple’s headquarters (any coincidence that rooms feature Apple TV systems?) at 10165 N. De Anza Blvd. at the corner of Alves Drive, where a gas station once stood.

The upscale, sleek hotel caters to high-tech travelers and has a bar, lounge, pool, free WiFi (yay!), and the hotel—guest rooms included—is smoke-free (double-yay!).
