New Singaporean Restaurant To Open In Cupertino

Killiney Kopitiam will open on Stevens Creek Boulevard later this year.

CUPERTINO, CA — Killiney Kopitiam is Singapore’s oldest cafe. It is now being franchised in the United States, and one of the first restaurants will be in Cupertino.

Singapore native Amanda Toh Steckler is Killiney Kopitiam’s master franchisee for the U.S. Her goal, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, is to take Singaporean food mainstream in America.

The Killiney Kopitiam menu includes curries, nasi lemak, kaya toast, and roti prata with an eye toward expanding selections.

The first Killiney Kopitiam in the U.S. opened in Palo Alto last year. There, patrons can watch Singaporean coffee being made from traditional long-spouted kettles.

Steckler plans to open restaurants in Cupertino, Santa Clara, Mountain View, Walnut Creek, and Livermore this year. Once she conquers the Bay Area, she will expand to Southern California and Washington.
