Santa Clara City Council Taking Apps For Open Seat

The city of Santa Clara is accepting applications from any residents who want to serve on the City Council after a member resigned.

SANTA CLARA, CA — The city of Santa Clara is accepting applications from any residents who want to serve on the City Council to replace a councilmember who resigned last month for health reasons.

The city clerk's office is accepting applications through the end of the business day on Feb. 28 for the District 5 City Council seat after Councilwoman Patricia Mahan resigned.

Votes from five of the remaining six people on the council will be needed to approve an appointment, and that person will serve through the rest of Mahan's term that ends this November, according to the city.
