South Bay Nonprofit Gets Financial Boost Amid Pandemic
$15,000 grant will help fund Los Gatos-based Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley.
LOS GATOS, CA — The Los Gatos chapter of a nonprofit girls empowerment group has received a grant from the Rite Aid Foundation.
The pharmacy chain that last year pledged to give $1 million in grant funding to Girls on the Run International in support of programming through the pandemic in subsequent years. GOTR supports girls from historically under-served communities.
Rite Aid has already delivered $15,000 directly to Girls on the Run of Silicon Valley, Executive Director Kathleen Nestler told Patch.

“We are excited and grateful for this new partnership and look forward to seeing how it creates positive change in our community!” the group wrote on its Facebook page.

“Inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy and confident through a fun, experienced-based curriculum that creatively integrates running, Girls on the Run offers programming at more than 12,000 sites across the United States and has transformed the lives of over 2 million girls throughout its 24-year history,” Rite Aid said in a statement announcing the grant donation.

GOTRSV’s registration for virtual and in-person program’s starts Feb. 15.
The group is holding separate eight-week programs that start on March 22 and April 19.
