Suspect Linked To South Bay Armed Robberies Arrested: Police
Police believe this armed robber struck in 5 South Bay and 4 East Bay cities.

XX A Union City man who police say committed more than 20 armed robberies in the East Bay and South Bay was arrested Tuesday, Fremont Police report.
Fremont Special Operations Detectives arrested 40-year-old Nelson Ramirez and seized clothing they say was used in the robberies as well as a replica handgun.
No injuries were reported in any of the robberies.

Police said in a release, “Since October, over 20 convenience stores were robbed at gunpoint by the suspect who claimed that he was robbing the store because of his sick child.”
When he was arrested, Ramirez told police that he does not have a sick child.

The robberies were committed in the East Bay cities of Fremont, Newark, Union City, and Hayward; and the South Bay cities of Mountain View, Milpitas, Sunnyvale, Campbell, and Los Altos.
The departments worked together to crack the case.
According to Fremont Police, “For the last month, FPD Detectives have been conducting physical surveillance of potential victim businesses. Detectives have also been reviewing surveillance video from victim businesses, surrounding businesses, and the Community Camera network. On Monday evening, detectives were able to identify a suspect vehicle that appeared at several of the victim businesses prior to the robberies occurring. Undercover detectives began searching for the vehicle and located it in Union City several hours later.”
Ramirez was booked into Santa Rita Jail in Alameda County.
