Suspected Alcohol-induced Cupertino Crash Injures Driver: SCC
The vehicle crashed through a metal fence near the entrance to Homestead High School.
CUPERTINO, CA — At least one person was seriously injured when a vehicle crashed into a metal fence near Homestead High School in Cupertino, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department reported Thursday.
Deputies assigned to the West Valley Patrol Division responded to the report of a solo vehicle crash near the entrance of the high school. The round tubbing from the fence pierced through front windshield and struck the driver, caused serious injuries, the sheriff's department added. The driver was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and remains in critical condition.
Based on the initial investigation, alcohol appeared to be a factor and open containers were located inside the vehicle, sheriff's deputies indicated.
