Teen Killed In Santa Clara Crash Identified

Four people in the other vehicle suffered moderate injuries.

SANTA CLARA, CA - A 17-year-old boy who died after he lost control of his vehicle and struck another in Santa Clara on Sunday night was identified as Brian Ibarra Casillas, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Ibarra Casillas, a Santa Clara resident, was pronounced dead at a hospital on Monday morning.

The crash occurred shortly after 10:20 p.m. Sunday when he lost control of his Acura Integra while trying to turn onto northbound Bowers Avenue from Monroe Street and collided with a Toyota Highlander.

The Highlander was stopped in the left lane of southbound Bowers Avenue at a red light, according to police.

The force of the collision caused the Highlander to be pushed into the front yard of a residence on the northwest corner of the intersection. The car then tipped over onto its passenger side, according to police.

The four occupants inside the Highlander were transported to a hospital with moderate injuries.
