Since summer offers some great concerts, we've included some neighboring cities' events

THURSDAY

Sevathon - There's still time to register for the Indian Community Center's big walkathon until 11:59 p.m. Thursday. Events include a half-marathon, 10K, 5K and 5K strollers, at the Sunnyvale Baylands Park. It all supports the center's programs including hot meal services to seniors, free medical clinic, table tennis training, group exercise and cultural programs. See Sunday's listing.

Free Summer Concert Series Conclusion -
Volifonix ends the summer concert series with a bang—in the hair-on-fire genre of hot/rock/funk, straight from the Pacific Northwest. Memorial Park Amphitheater, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Free Summer Concert - Daze on the Green, playing classic rock 'n' roll! Grab some food at the Farmers Market and head over to Hillview Center Soccer Field in Los Altos, 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Cupertino's Sandlot Social program is still open to residents ages 50 and over. It aims to resurrect the joys of baseball for the community. The fee to participate is $38 for the season and is open to residents and those in surrounding communities. Membership is required. Questions? Ask for Justin Cecil at the Cupertino Senior Center at (408) 777-3150 or visit cupertino.org/senior. Informal softball games and batting practices are held Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon at Memorial Park's softball field near the senior center, 21251 Stevens Creek Blvd.

SATURDAY
Relay for Life - Sign up before Saturday to pledge, dedicate a luminaria, form your own group to get pledges, and participate at Cupertino High School. In the American Cancer Society's own words, "Relay For Life is a life-changing event that helps our community celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease." Walk, think, celebrate.

Youth Soccer Registration - Last-call registration for Cupertino's AYSO Region 35 for the fall season soccer play. The cost is $150 per player with a $10 sibling discount. For more information, visit http://www.ayso2j.org. Union Church of Cupertino, 20900 Stevens Creek Blvd. (next to Staples and across from Whole Foods), 5 to 7 p.m.

It’s Opera San Jose’s 30th anniversary and members will be performing pieces from Verdi’s Falstaff, Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel, Puccini’s Madame Butterfly and Mozart’s Don Giovanni during the free, one-hour performance. 7 to 8 p.m. Park Valencia, Santana Row, San Jose

SUNDAY
Sevathon - The Indian Community Center's big walkathon at the Sunnyvale Baylands Park starts bright and early with yoga at 6:30 a.m. Then comes the half-marathon, 10K, 5K and 5K strollers. It all supports the center's programs including hot meal services to seniors, free medical clinic, table tennis training, group exercise and cultural programs.
