Woman Dead, Man Critically Injured In Santa Clara Crash
The car was speeding down Cabrillo Avenue early Monday hitting parked cars before ejecting both San Leandro occupants: Santa Clara police.
SANTA CLARA, CA — A 25-year-old San Leandro woman died in a crash Monday morning near the intersection of Cabrillo Avenue and Fordham Drive, the Santa Clara Police Department reported.
A black Honda Fit traveling eastbound on Cabrillo Avenue at a high rate of speed 1:27 a.m., struck parked cars along the 3300 block of Cabrillo Avenue. The two occupants of the Honda were ejected from the vehicle transported to Valley Medical Center, according to the police report.
The 29-year-old San Leandro man remains in critical condition, while the woman identified as Alyssa Funes was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Traffic division detectives are investigating who was driving. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were involved.
Cabrillo Avenue between Fordham Drive and Nobili Avenue was closed in the early morning hours but has since reopened.
