'Sully' Sullenberger Puts Danville Home Up For Sale

WOW House: The pilot, famous for executing a landing later known as the 'Miracle on the Hudson,' is ready to sell his Vista Tassajara home.

DANVILLE, CA -- More than eight years after he saved the lives of 155 passengers when he landed US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River in New York, Danville resident Chesley Burnett "Sully" Sullenberger III has listed his home for sale.

Captain Sullenberger was hailed as a hero and thrust into the spotlight following the incredible water landing later known as the "Miracle on the Hudson." On Jan. 15, 2009, a flock of geese struck the commercial jet shortly after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport. The jet lost both engines and Sullenberger executed a forced water landing that garnered worldwide attention. Actor and Concord native Tom Hanks portrayed Sullenberger in the 2016 film "Sully."

Sullenberger and his wife lived in Danville at the time of the famous landing. His hilltop home, which is located on a cul-de-sac in the Vista Tassajara neighborhood, recently hit the market. The house, which was built in 1995, has been remodeled. The gourmet kitchen is perfect for those who love to entertain and the yard features a gorgeous pool, spa and outdoor kitchen. The property is located near several parks and walking trails.
