A String of Vehicle Burglaries, Kmart Heist in Recent Crime

The night of February 10 had a string of vehicle burglaries in Diamond Bar and a heist at Kmart resulted in estimated losses and damage of around $9,000.

Monday, Feb. 7

Petty theft — a number of bottles of liquor, estimated at $256, were reported stolen from at 1:40 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 8

Possession of a credit card skimmer — two electronic card “skimming” devices were removed from pumps at a gas station on Golden Springs Drive. The devices were found after numerous customers reported that the pump had not been working.

Wednesday, Feb. 9

Petty theft — a man reported that his wallet was stolen from his unlocked car while parked outside of a home on the 24000 block of Meadow Falls Drive around 7:45 p.m. The victim reported that the car was unlocked for about 15 minutes while unattended.

Burglary — a burglary was reported at the restaurant between the hours of 3:50 a.m. and 3:52 a.m. The cash register, which reportedly contained no money, had been opened and the drawer was on the floor next to the register. The victim reported that only a bottle of liquor had been stolen from a glass refrigerator after a glass door to the restaurant had been shattered.

Thursday, Feb. 10

Possession of burglary tools — a man was arrested at 10:50 a.m. on the 1200 block of Diamond Bar Boulevard after an officer witnessed the suspect looking into the window of several parked vehicles and a pat-down of the suspect revealed he had a flat plastic tool, a thin metal object, and a Phillips style screwdriver in his possession. The officer also found a 3-inch metal shank and a white colored rock and identified these items as those to be commonly used to commit vehicle burglaries.

The suspect waived his Miranda rights at the time of his arrest and told the officer he had the reported items because he liked to “fix things for his grandmother.”

Burglary — a man reported that a wallet and pair of women’s sunglasses were stolen from his locked vehicle between 10:30 p.m. and 7:10 a.m. the following morning on the 34000 block of Cable Court. The passenger side window had been shattered.

Burglary — a woman reported a wristwatch and GPS unit stolen from her vehicle in the 300 block of Covered Wagon Drive between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. the following morning.

Burglary — a man reported that an iPod was stolen from his truck on the 900 block of Looking Glass Drive between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. the following morning after he found the driver side window of the car smashed.

Burglary — a woman reported a GPS unit stolen from her vehicle between the hours of 1 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. the following day on the 3200 block of Falcon Ridge Drive.

Burglary — a man reported an internet router stolen from his vehicle between the hours of 9:45 p.m. and 7:15 a.m. the following day on the 21400 block of Cold Springs Lane. The rear drivers side window of the car was found shattered.

Burglary — a man reported an iPod stolen from his car between 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. on the 700 block of Grand Avenue. The driver side window of the car had been shattered.

Grand theft — a man reported a cement mixer and two batteries valued at $400 were stolen from a tool bin on his truck between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. the following morning on the 20800 block of Starshine Road.

Friday, Feb. 11

Grand theft auto — a man reported that his white 1996 Cadillac DeVille was stolen after he left the car running at the curb outside of the 7-Eleven market on Diamond Bar Boulevard. Neither the owner of the 7-Eleven or employees at the neighboring Del Taco had further information but a surveillance tape identified a male suspect who reportedly entered the car and drove southbound.

Saturday, Feb. 12

Burglary — an early morning burglary was reported at , resulting in an estimated loss of $9,000 in digital cameras, jewelry, watches, and damage to the store. Surveillance tape revealed a male suspect entering the store around 3 a.m. and breaking a number of display cases in pursuit of the stolen items.

Monday, Feb. 14

Attempted burglary — a woman reported an attempted burglary at her home on the 1200 block of S. Diamond Bar Boulevard after noticing that the front window of her home was cracked and a screen for the window was bent. No items were reported stolen from the home.

Thursday, Feb. 10

Battery — an Anaheim Hills woman was arrested at 10:05 p.m. after a domestic dispute on the 1000 block of Alyeska Place. Police reports state the family was discussing the care of an elderly family member before talk of finances became heated and led to an altercation after which the suspect was accused of battery and issued a citizen’s arrest by the victim of the alleged battery.

Petty theft — a bundle of wood valued at near $400 was reported stolen near the corner of Tardan Place and Saddlehorn Way between the hours of 3:30 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. the following morning.

Friday, Feb. 11

Petty theft — a woman reported that the tailgate of her truck was stolen between the hours of 5:20 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on the 1100 block of Grand Avenue.

Sunday, Feb. 13

Petty theft — a theft was reported at 10:45 p.m. at the Albertson’s market on Amar Road after an employee reviewed a surveillance tape in which two males reportedly stole two packages of face cream valued at $141. The loss prevention officer at the market reported that she recognized the suspects in the video as men who she believed had stolen from the store in the past.

Tuesday, Feb. 15

Vandalism — a man reported that the paint of his Ford Excursion had been scratched in a single line around the car sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m., amounting to an estimated $1,000 in damage.
