
Quail Summit Elementary School’s Character Crew and Student Council teamed up to raise $2,530.45 for the American Red Cross to support relief efforts after Japan's tragic earthquake and tsunami in March.
Character Crew advisors Leann Legind, Klinda Burke, Pam Leslie and Student Council advisors Janet Sugita, Kristen Burke and Norma Morales called an emergency “before school” student meeting with the two groups to organize the fundraiser.
“We did it because Japan really needed some help after the earthquake," Student Council President Natalie Swartout said. "I’m so glad we collected so much!”

The leadership groups jointly planned a campaign to collect funds from students and the school community for the American Red Cross. The fundraiser was supported by each classroom.
“This is just one example of many, many others that demonstrate the caring and compassion of this dedicated staff and wonderful school community,” said Carolyn Wills, Interim Principal.
