Brush Fires Ignite In Walnut, Firefighters Respond

WALNUT, CA — Los Angeles County fire crews responded to a roughly two-acre fire in a riverbed area near the Whittier Narrows golf course in the 8600 block of Rush Street in the Rosemead area.

"A few smaller fires are burning in the area that are being treated as one fire," a dispatch operator told Patch.

Firefighters appeared to gain the upper hand on the flames within about an hour, but remained on scene dousing hot spots. There were no reports of injuries or structural damage.
