Camp Out To Win Free Chick-fil-A For Year At New SGV Restaurant
Pack your tent & sleeping bags to be among first 100 lined up for Thursday opening in West Covina. P.S. Be there Wednesday evening.

WEST COVINA, CA — West Covina is poised this week to welcome its first Chick-fil-A, with the new restaurant slated to open Thursday, Feb. 13 at 200 S. Vincent Ave.
In keeping with the Atlanta-based chain's "First 100" tradition, the first 100 customers in line for the 6:30 a.m. grand opening will score a year of free Chick-fil-A meals — which translates to campout in the parking lot!
The new Chick-fil-A owner and West Covina native, Danny Hernandez, and his crew will host the overnight celebration as the First 100 contenders begin gathering outside the restaurant at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 for registration that begins 6 p.m.

A graduate of Covina High School, Hernandez was 22 when he began his Chick-fil-A journey as he was helping his mom, Mary, pursue a job at the Azusa Chick-fil-A and ended up working at the restaurant, as well, according to company officials. He stayed with the fast-food eatery and used three different Chick-fil-A scholarships to help him earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Azusa Pacific University.
After climbing company ranks, Hernandez, whose wife, Priscila, also worked for the chain, dreamed of opening his own franchise, and within 15 months of applying was named operator of the restaurant at Vincent and Lakes Drive — no small feat as management said they receive some 60,000 applicants for approximately 100 opportunities annually.

“I am excited to have an opportunity in this new role to care for and serve my hometown of West Covina both inside and outside my restaurant,” Hernandez said, adding that he wants his customers to "become like family.”
The 4,250-square-foot West Covina locale, with approximately 100 employees, offers a dual-lane drive-thru, in-restaurant dining for 90 patrons, free Wi-Fi and a 36-seat outdoor patio. Hours will be Mondays through Saturdays 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. All Chick-fil-As are closed Sundays.
For the upcoming First 100, up to 100 adults in line will win a digital-offer card pre-loaded with a year of free Chick-fil-A — 52 meals consisting of a chicken sandwich, medium waffle potato fries and a medium beverage.
