Castle Rock Principal Moves to District

Jackie Brown, principal at Castle Rock Elementary School, will be moving on to a position at the district level starting July 1. The district approved the move Wednesday and will now seek her replacement.

l Principal Jackie Brown announced to her school staff Thursday morning that she will be moving on to a position at the district level starting July 1.

Brown, who has been the principal at the school for four years, was unanimously approved by the school board Wednesday night for the position of director of educational projects.

"I want to say thank you to everybody who I have been associated with in the staff at Walnut Elementary, Maple Hill, and Castle Rock," Brown said Wednesday, "and I look forward to moving the district forward in all ways possible."

Brown has worked in the Walnut Valley district for a total of 21 years, with 17 at Walnut Elementary and a brief post as interim principal at Maple Hill Elementary. She went on to a principal spot in West Covina before returning for four years as the principal at Castle Rock Elementary.

The district did not have further details on who will fill the Castle Rock spot as the hiring process first required approval of Brown's promotion to the district.
