Chaparral Middle School Students Raise Funds for Japan
Students at Chaparral Middle School raised nearly $4,000 to donate to the Red Cross relief efforts in Japan.

During the month of April, students at Chaparral Middle School raised nearly $4,000 to donate to the American Red Cross Relief Fund for Japan.
The country was hit by a massive 9.0 earthquake on March 11 off of the north-eastern coast of the country near the city of Sendai.
The Chaparral fundraising effort was assisted by an anonymous donor as well as a spring orchestra concert that contributed proceeds to the cause.

The April fundraising drive was led by the school's Associated Student Body and Humanitarian Club who earned a grand total of $3,914.74 by April 20.
The school's Associated Student Body, led by President Ruben Reyes, and the Humanitarian Club, led by President Kevan Kueter, were the primary groups organizing the drive.

ASB Directory Parchi Gammell, Humanitarian Club Advisory Sherry Robertson, and Orchestra Teacher Greg Rochford also helped to organize the efforts.
