POMONA, CA —A 16-year-old girl was rescued from human trafficking in Pomona by police officers Tuesday morning, police said. Pomona Police officers discovered the teenager in an area known as the Holt Corridor, Sgt. Rick Aguilar said.

The girl, whose identity was not released, was interviewed and allocated proper resources. An investigation remains underway to find those who put her in harms' way, Aguilar said.

The Pomona Police Department received numerous complaints from residents and local business owners of prostitution in the area, leading officers back to the area known as "The Blade."

The goal of the operation was to target prostitution-related crimes and recover juveniles, arrest prostitutes and johns, according to Aguilar.

"The Pomona Police Department continues to pursue the identification and prosecution of human traffickers (pimps) who facilitate the prostitution activity in the Holt Corridor," Aguilar said.

This area, also known as the "Blade," has remained a focus for prostitution activity.
In May, police from multiple agencies arrested 24 people on prostitution charges. The Azusa and Claremont Police Departments and the Baldwin Park California Highway Patrol all participated in the sting.

During that operation, undercover female police officers posed as prostitutes and negotiated "sexual acts in exchange for money," the Pomona Police Department shared over Nixle.

Over eight hours, police arrested 24 "johns" and impounded 22 vehicles.
