Diamond Bar Home Suspected Scene of Trash Can Remains Murder

A woman suspected of murder is believed to have committed the crime at the Diamond Bar home of the victim, Detective Jeff Crittenden of the Ontario Police said.

The home of a Diamond Bar man found dismembered in Ontario Sunday was identified as the scene of his suspected murder.

Detective Jeff Crittenden of the Ontario Police said investigators believe 63-year-old Samuel Wiggins, Jr. was killed in his home in the 23700 block of Meadow Fall Drive.

Wiggins was reported missing to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on May 1 along with his vehicle.

Investigators were not able to confirm if Wiggins left the home alone before he was reported missing.

Wiggins and the woman suspected in his murder, 51-year-old Carmen Montenegro of Riverside County, had dated for some time prior to the reported murder. Det. Crittenden said the timeline of their relationship is not known.

Crittenden said that the apparent murder is an isolated incident, though a motive or cause has is still being investigated.

Police also arrested Montenegro's son and daughter — Daniel Ortiz, 25, and Chanel Ortiz, 26 — and the two are believed to be accessories to the crime.

Detectives also found that Montenegro had used the last name Montelongo as an alias, though she is still being referred to by the name Montenegro in the investigation.

Crittenden said that investigators are seeking any information from neighbors of the Meadow Falls home who may have seen or heard anything related to this crime.
