DB Mt. SAC Student Competes in National Engineering Contest
Jeff White, a Diamond Bar resident, won a gold medal at the SkillsUSA state competition earlier this month, allowing him to advance to the national contest.

Mt. Engineering Design Technology student Jeff White’s gold medal win earlier this month at the SkillsUSA state competition in San Diego earned him a trip to a national competition.
White, a Diamond Bar resident, will compete at the SkillsUSA 47th Annual National Leadership conference competition from June 19-24 in Kansas City, Missouri, according to a press release.
“The state competition gives our students the opportunity to apply their skills and compete at an intense level with other students throughout California,” said Mt. SAC professor and SkillsUSA advisor Max Lizarraga.

Other top finishers from Mt. SAC in the state competition, which took place April 28-May 1 in San Diego, included Abdul Hameed, who won a second-place silver medal in electronic technology and Adrian Garcia, who also won silver in the welding combo category.
Joseph DeMel won a bronze medal in welding shielded metal arc.

SkillsUSA, formerly called the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America, is a nationally affiliated club representing secondary and post-secondary students in the trade, technical and health fields.
The organization represents more than 310,000 students from more than 13,000 chapters in all 54 state and territorial associations.
