Diamond Ranch Seniors Net District Scholarships
Four Diamond Ranch seniors received scholarships from employee groups in the district during the school board's meeting Tuesday night.
Four students were awarded monetary scholarships by Pomona Unified School District employee unions Tuesday night for high academic achievement.
The scholarship awards come just as the group of seniors are heading off to college.
Diamond Ranch seniors Jessica Lienhard, Kaylin Murray, Janessa Nishida, and Sara Kong were each selected for scholarship awards from various groups.

Lienhard and Murray were selected for a scholarship from the Pomona Administrators, Confidential/Classified Employees union. Lienhard will attend Mt. San Antonio College next fall for photography and Murray will attend Cal Poly Pomona to study graphic design.
"I plan on coming back to the schools and tutoring," Murray said, "and doing freelance graphic design in the area."

Kong was selected by the Associated Pomona Teachers union and plans to pursue a career in teaching after studying at California State University, Fullerton.
Kong wrote in her application for the award that she hopes to teach elementary school and "expose students to the positive things in the world."
Nishida was awarded by the California School Employees Association for academic excellence and she plans on attending California State University, Fullerton.
Students at all of the district's high schools were honored during the year-end award presentations Tuesday night.
