Have you Registered to Vote, Walnut? You Have Until Midnight, Monday

WALNUT, CA — Monday is the last day in Los Angeles and Orange counties to register to vote, change address or register under a different party before the Nov. 8 general election.

Voter registration can be done online at registertovote.ca.gov . Forms can also be obtained at many government offices, such as the Department of Motor Vehicles, post offices, public libraries and county registrar of voters offices.

Voters in L.A. County can drop off their voter registrations on Monday at 12400 Imperial Highway, Room 3002 in Norwalk.

"Registering to vote is quick and easy,'' L.A. County Registrar- Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan reminds voters.

Forms are available in English, Spanish, Filipino, Vietnamese and Chinese. Translated materials are available by calling (800) 481-8683. Those who are already registered were encouraged to sign up for mail-in ballots.
Because there are so many state and local propositions -- some of them complicated -- election officials hope that people will vote at home, which could help reduce wait times at polling places on election day.

The last day to apply for a mail ballot is Nov. 1. However, the faster the ballots are filled out and returned, the sooner the votes will be recorded, according to Logan.

Online registration is also available in Orange County, Registrar of Voters spokesperson Neal Kelley said. Online registration will be available until 11:59 p.m. Monday, he added.

"This allows voters to complete the whole process online at ocvote.com/registrtion,'' Kelley said.
Kelley said that Orange County has had 93,533 new registrations since the 2016 June Primary.

"This is historic and exciting but we want to ensure that everyone that wishes to participate is given the opportunity to do so,'' Kelley added.

Voters can also drop off registrations or vote at the Registrars office at 1300 S. Grand Ave., Building C in Santa Ana between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday, according to Kelley.

The election will determine races for president, members of Congress and the state Legislature, and decide 17 state propositions.
