Industry Sheriff's DUI Checkpoint in La Puente Yields 78 Arrests

An overnight sobriety checkpoint in La Puente yielded 78 arrests, authorities said Sunday.

A total of 2,220 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, which was set up from 7 p.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. today on Hacienda Boulevard north of Nelson Avenue, and 2,035 drivers were screened, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

One person was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of methamphetamine, 56 were arrested for driving without licenses and 14 for driving with suspended or revoked licenses, authorities said.

One person was arrested on suspicion of methamphetamine possession, another for having an outstanding felony parole warrant and two people were collared for knowingly allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a vehicle, according to the sheriff's department.

Three people with outstanding traffic warrants were also arrested, authorities said.

Eighteen vehicles were impounded for one day and seven for 30 days, according to the sheriff's department.
