La Puente Shooting Tied to Freeway Crash

Sheriff's investigators confirmed that a man who crashed on the eastbound 60 freeway in Diamond Bar was the victim of an earlier shooting in La Puente.

Sheriff's investigators confirmed that a man who was shot and wounded during a fight in La Puente was the same man that crashed on the eastbound 60 freeway Wednesday morning, .

Sgt. Dwight Miley of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said the shooting received a call reporting a shooting of one man around 7:27 a.m. in the 16400 block of Valley Boulevard in La Puente.

Shortly after, Miley said, a call came in that a second male victim in the shooting was involved in a traffic accident on the eastbound 60 freeway.

The accident was reported sometime after 8 a.m. and closed all lanes for an investigation for around 90 minutes, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver was found with a wounded hand and a graze wound to the head and was later transported to a hospital, according to Nicole Nishida of the sheriff's Industry station.

According to a KTLA report, the driver was found bleeding and holding a gun.

The suspected gunman in La Puente was also hospitalized with unspecified injuries.
