Lorbeer Construction Replaces Leaking Pipes
School district officials were surprised in December when they received a call that three classrooms at Lorbeer Middle School had flooded. After a temporary fix, the school is getting new piping this summer.
Construction to replace a burst water pipe at is set for completion July 29.
The summer project will be a permanent fix to a leak that left three classrooms under a few feet of water at the school over winter break, Pomona Unified School District Director of Purchasing Nate Holt said.
"The team was there from 7 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.," Holt said in June.

Holt said that a team dug a nearly 40-foot trench to access a membrane that had decayed so that it could be resealed.
Money for the winter repair and the summer construction will be funded as part of a $235 million bond measure that was passed in November of 2008 to improve school facilities in the district.

As part of the bond project spending, the district will also be paving the way for the , adding lighted marquees at Diamond Ranch High School, Diamond Point Elementary, and Golden Springs PreK-8.
A separate state bond will pay for concrete resurfacing of the asphalt basketball and volleyball courts at Diamond Ranch.
