No Rider Found After 60 Freeway Motorcycle Crash
The CHP reported that a motorcycle and jacket were found after a collision on the westbound 60 freeway late Sunday night, but a rider was not located.
UPDATED, 8:08 a.m.: Investigators are still looking for a motorcyclist involved in a collision with a big rig on the 60 freeway late Sunday night, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Al Aleman said.
"We're doing follow-up on the registered owner and all we have is a shoe," Aleman said. "It's kind of hard to place somebody based on a shoe."
Aleman said it is "not unheard of" for a motorcyclist to leave the scene of an accident and that a number of motorcycle groups ride on the 60 freeway.

"They usually crash and then park it in the dirt and come back to pick (the motorcycle) up later," Aleman said.

Investigators responding to a motorcycle and big rig collision on the westbound 60 freeway late Sunday night found a jacket and a motorcycle but no rider, according to California Highway Patrol reports.
CHP officer Anthony Martin said that witnesses reported seeing a motorcycle in the slow lane and a jacket hanging from the undercarriage of a car, but never saw the rider.
A ground search and helicopter-aided search also did not discover the rider of the motorcycle and Martin said it was likely that the rider walked away from the collision.
Officers also checked area hospitals for any connections to the accident that caused the right two lanes to be closed from 12:34 a.m. to 1:36 a.m.
