One Arrested After Fatal Diamond Bar Crash
A driver who struck a disabled vehicle fled the scene of a fatal crash on the 60 freeway, Sunday.
DIAMOND BAR, CA — A 24-year-old Pomona man was killed, his female passenger injured and a second driver arrested in a fatal hit-and-run crash Sunday morning on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Diamond Bar.
The crash on the eastbound 60 Freeway at Grand Avenue happened just after 4:45 a.m., the California Highway Patrol said.
According to the CHP, the 2002 Mazda Protege became disabled across the number 4 and 5 lanes.

A second motorist driving a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, 30-year-old Juan David Montiel of Fontana, was in the number 4 lane. Montiel swerved to avoid the disabled vehicle but hit the Mazda and the man who died.
After the crash, Montiel fled the scene on foot. He was later arrested at his residence, the CHP reported. The female passenger in the Mazda, 21- year-old Roxanna Rios of Anaheim, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to an area trauma center.

Firefighters and paramedics dispatched to the location shortly after the crash reported the Mazda driver dead at the scene, a county fire department dispatcher said.
The name of the deceased driver will be withheld pending family notification.
A SigAlert was issued just after 5:30 a.m. closing all lanes of the eastbound freeway. Four hours later, the freeway was cleared, the CHP said.
The crash remains under investigation and drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in it, the CHP said.
