Phillips Ranch Shooting Leads to Hospitalization, DB Manhunt, Capture
The suspect in a Pomona shooting Thursday night fled to Diamond Bar after he allegedly shot a Pomona man near the Sahara Cafe in Phillips Ranch. The victim was stabilized and airlifted from the scene.
Enrique Parra, 27, was arrested in Diamond Bar Thursday evening after allegedly shooting and wounding a Pomona man in a Phillips Ranch Shopping Center on Village Loop Road.
The victim, Patrick S. Hunt of Pomona, was stabilized at the scene and airlifted by the Los Angeles County Fire Department for further treatment.
According to police reports, officers responded to the call at 3:12 p.m. and found that Parra, a Diamond Bar resident, fled from the scene after a verbal confrontation with Parra that concluded with the alleged shooting.
Parra's vehicle was described by Pomona police and later spotted on the 22000 block of Sunset Crossing Road in Diamond Bar by an L.A. County Sheriff's officer patrolling the area.
Officers from the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff's station and Pomona police pursued the suspect in Diamond Bar, setting up a perimeter around the vehicle and calling in helicopters to help spot the suspect, neighbors reported.
One Patch reader reported receiving a call from a friend living near the 22000 block of Sunset Crossing — between the swim club and Diamond Point Elementary School — detailing that at around 5:10 p.m., the suspect was spotted running through a backyard in the neighborhood.
According to L.A. County Sheriff's reports, Parra was arrested at 6:40 p.m. by Pomona PD and was booked at 2:35 a.m. Friday.
Parra is currently being held on $2 million bail.
Court records show Parra was charged in a separate case of attempted murder filed on May 27, 2010 at the Pomona Courthouse.
According to a May 27 crime roundup in the San Bernardino Sun and the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, an Enrique Tinoco Parra allegedly shot one Patrick S. Hunt in the neck in a garage on Raven Hill Drive in Phillip Ranch on Tuesday, May 25.
Officials have not confirmed that these two individuals are the same involved in Thursday's shooting.
Court records could not confirm the identity of the victim of the May 2010 attempted murder for which Parra has been charged.
A judgment is not currently available in that case.
