Sheriff's Captain Urges Residents to Report Suspicious Neighborhood Activity

Sheriff's Captain David Halm urged residents to report any suspicious neighborhood activity after a false alarm burglary report on Goldrush Drive Wednesday.

Captain David Halm of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's said that residents should always report suspicious neighborhood activity to police in response to a recent false alarm burglary report after two keyless youngsters were seen trying to enter a relative's home.

"I would rather respond to a call 10 miles away and find out it's nothing than miss real burglary because someone didn't call," Halm said.

After sheriff's detectives reported the capture of two men in connection with a string of San Gabriel Valley residential burglaries, Diamond Bar Assistant City Manager David Doyle also urged residents to form strong relationships with neighbors to help spot and prevent home burglaries.

"Many times we'll find that a neighbor reported seeing something suspicious but did not report it," Doyle said, "and that's the most important thing to do."

Doyle said recent burglaries have also started with a knock on the door from an unknown person.
