Phillips Ranch Man, 21, Dies In Fiery Crash On 60 Freeway

Investigators were on scene Monday morning after a sedan landed on top of a guardrail after a single-car fatal crash on the Pomona Freeway.

DIAMOND BAR, CA — A 21-year-old Phillips Ranch resident was killed Monday in a solo crash on the eastbound Pomona (60) Freeway in the Diamond Bar area.

For unknown reasons, the driver veered his 2015 Hyundai Sonata off the roadway and collided with a large metal overhead freeway sign pole near Lemon Avenue about 5:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle ended up on a guardrail, according to witnesses.

Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash, according to the CHP.

The driver's name was withheld pending notification of his family.
