Wrong Way Crash Leads To 57 Freeway Closure, Wednesday

One person was injured early Wednesday on the 57 freeway when a driver went the wrong way into traffic.

DIAMOND BAR, CA —Morning traffic on the northbound 57 Freeway through Diamond Bar was stalled after a wrong-way driver crashed, injuring one, authorities said. Two lanes of the freeway for about 90 minutes after the collision.

California Highway Patrol officers received multiple calls of a car driving south in the northbound carpool lane early Wednesday morning. Just before 2:15 a.m., a witness reported the vehicle had crashed into the center divider near the Brea Canyon Road onramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

One person was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

The carpool and No.1 lane of the northbound Orange Freeway were closed for an investigation into the crash.

Both lanes were reopened about 3:30 a.m., the CHP said.
