Big-Rig Carrying Cattle Crashes On Midway Road Near Dixon
Several of the cattle unfortunately suffered serious injury and/or death, the Solano County Sheriff's Office reported in an update.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A big-rig that jackknifed Monday on Midway Road in Solano County — blocking the roadway between state Highway 113 and Pedrick Road in Dixon for several hours — was hauling livestock, the Solano County Sheriff's Office said in an update.
Deputies along with California Highway Patrol officers responded to the crash at about 11:30 a.m. Monday to find cattle inside the trailer, officials with the sheriff's office said via social media.
The driver made it safely out of the truck and did not report being injured; however, several of the herd died or suffered serious injuries, the sheriff's office said at about 9 p.m. Monday.

"The total number of cattle on board are unknown at this time, but unfortunately there were several who suffered serious injury and/or death; but thanks to the overwhelming support of several local ranchers, farmers and first responders, more than half of the cattle on the livestock trailer were safely removed and taken to safety," Solano County sheriff's officials said.
"... We would like to personally thank each and every member of the community who came out in support with their trucks, trailers, 4-wheelers, horses and agricultural expertise. We all appreciate your extremely hard work and assistance during this very difficult situation."
