Dixon Grads Will Parade Saturday, June 6
Principal Invites Local Residents to Come Out and Cheer

Celebrating Graduates
Next Saturday, June 6, there will be 242 seniors from Dixon High School graduating via a car parade with their families through town and to the high school to pick up diplomas. It's our chance to come out of our homes and congratulate them with flags, whistles, and signs!
DHS Principal Stephanie Marquez has put in tons of hours along with her staff to coordinate with the Dixon Police, parents, students, grad night volunteers, and all the civic clubs to give our local grads an experience worth remembering in the nation’s COVID-19 Pandemic.

“We needed our students to know that although it would be an emotional end to this year, their town loves them,” she said. “Our objective was to give them a safe and honorable way.” A parade for graduates kicked into high gear.
Civic club presidents were called in a few weeks ago and lined up for duties including Rotary and Lions Clubs working on the route and providing street guidance alongside Dixon Police during the parade. The Soroptimist got busy making decorations for all the graduates and will be decorating along a fence that cars would have to drive past.

Kiwanis ordered large black and green umbrellas for the teachers who will stand out at the school waving to their students to protect them from either sun or rain. Dixon United Methodist Church volunteered Audrey Madden to Live Stream the ceremony and Living Hope Church has volunteers helping out as well.
Residents are encouraged to come out of their homes and wave and whistle as the graduates pass by in their cars.
This is what a ‘sense of community’ looks like—but especially so in trying times. I am so proud to be called a Dixonite and be part of our wonderful hometown. Thank you, Principal Marquez and everyone else who is helping to pull this huge endeavor off for our successful students.
