Dixon Lamb Grower Gets National Public Thank You

A Facebook group called 'My Job Depends on Ag' is connecting farmers, ranchers, and consumers through social media.

DIXON, CA- My Job Depends on Ag is a Facebook group started last year with a goal of connecting California agriculture to everyday life, and it has quickly connected more than 50,000 active users nationwide. Members post photos of their own farms, interesting agriculture facts, and discuss hot topics- bridging the disconnect between farms and foods.

Friday, a Dixon farmer was publicly thanked by a Central Valley consumer who picked up some Dixon-grow lamb, processed by Superior Farms.

"I went to Save Mart (Riverbank, CA) to get some meat to barbecue tonight. I love lamb, but it wouldn't have even been on my radar for tonight if not for this display," Kristin Platt said, "If anyone knows Ryan Mahoney from Dixon CA, tell him thanks for growing my dinner!"

The mission statement of My Job Depends on Ag says, "Our goal here is to show just how massive the fraternity of Ag really is. Through your pictures and stories, we will show the side of Ag that has been long forgotten. It is our turn to write the pages of history. No longer are we going to be defined by those who have never seen what we do. We are the backbone and the truckers are our arms and legs! Together we will show this state what the real impact we have on the economy!! Go Ag!!"
