Downed Tree Halted Trains Wednesday Night in Dixon

Solano County Sheriff's Department credited a thoughtful resident for tipping officials to a hazard on the railroad tracks.

DIXON, CA- Dixon train traffic was halted late Wednesday night, when a downed tree blocked both directions of the railroad tracks, according to officials.

Solano County Sheriff’s officials report that a resident sent a tip to officials about a tree downed on the tracks near Batavia Road in the rural area of Dixon just after 11 p.m.

Deputies Hardy and DeHoney were credited on social media for acting quickly, helping Union Pacific remove the large hazard.

“We are so thankful a citizen let us know about the tree and helped avoid a potential train accident,” officials said on Facebook, “It was pitch black dark and this could have ended very badly if not removed.”
