Honda Driver Dies In Crash Near Dixon

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the fatal collision on eastbound Interstate Highway 80, according to the California Highway Patrol.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA — A man driving a 2007 Honda Accord who died Tuesday night when he collided with a 2013 Ford Escape near Dixon was identified by the Solano County Sheriff-Coroner's Office Wednesday as 23-year-old Jonathan Rosete of Sacramento.

The fatal crash happened at 10:42 p.m. on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 east of Currey Road, according to California Highway Patrol Officer David Harvey.

CHP determined through investigation that Rosete was not wearing a seat belt and was going above the 65-mph speed limit. Rosete was changing lanes from the No. 2 lane to the No. 3 when he collided with the slower-moving Ford, Harvey said.

"The impact caused the Ford to overturn, coming to rest on its right side on the right shoulder of I-80 eastbound from Currey Road," Harvey said.

The Honda continued eastbound and became lodged in the bushes east of the Ford, which was driven by a 71-year-old Silveyville woman.

The Ford driver suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to the Kaiser hospital in Vacaville for treatment.

Harvey said it appeared Rosete was killed in the initial impact of the crash.

"This is an ongoing investigation and alcohol impairment has not been ruled out," Harvey told Patch Thursday, Nov. 7.

CHP is actively investigating the fatal incident; anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call the CHP Solano Area Office at 707-428-2100 and ask for Officer A. Skinner, or call the CHP's non-emergency line 1-800-TELL-CHP (1-800-835-5247).
