Liquidation Sale Begins At Babies R Us In Fairfield

The area store is closing, and savvy shoppers can find discounts in all product categories.

FAIRFIELD, CA – A liquidation sale begins today at the Babies R Us store in Fairfield as part of a federal bankruptcy-approved, going-out-of-business plan for the retailer.

Last month, Wayne, N.J.-based Toys R Us filed a motion to close up to 182 of its 880 stores in America — about 20 percent. The retailer has since removed at least a dozen stores from the list.

The local closure, with the accompanying sell-off sale, is at the Babies R Us at 1400 Gateway Boulevard in Fairfield.

Discounts, which today vary from about 10 percent to 20 percent off merchandise, are expected to increase through early April as the closing dates near.

The liquidation sales are underway at more than 150 stores nationwide, including several in California. Click this link to find California locations, and select a city to see if closings are planned. Some stores in the U.S. will be combined into Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores.

David Brandon, chairman and CEO of the toy retailer, previously said the brand was reinventing itself and that required some "tough decisions about our priorities and focus."

"The reinvention of our brands requires that we make tough decisions about our priorities and focus," Brandon said in a letter posted on the company's website.
