A Love Letter To Samantha

"Thank you for being my rock, my better half, my laughter, my love."

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we asked Patch readers to write a love letter to that special someone and let us deliver it. This is Dorothea Donaldson’s love letter to Samantha:

"I can remember clearly the day I first saw you, as you rushed past me on my break from work and I thought, “Wow, so pretty, your hair so long in a beautiful braid. I wanna know you.” Life had been really hard for me with my father battling stage four cancer.

When you came into my life, I thought, “Maybe all of this will scare you away watching me watch him pass away in my home.” But you were brave and even helped with him, became his friend as he would talk to you about his life stories. You made him laugh and feel alive. You would hold me on the nights I'd cry myself to sleep, and when he passed away you held me up. You let me be weak mourning his loss, not once letting me feel alone.

You’re so special to me, Samantha. Here we are three years later, and I love you more and more every day. Thank you for being my rock, my better half, my laughter, my love, and thank you for loving me as much as you do – even when life's hard on us. Happy Valentine's Day, my beautiful soul! I love you."
